How Would You Ever Recover?

Once again a CNN headline on my GoogleReader made me want to know "the rest of the story".  I had to read the article Unknowing Twins Marry Each Other.  EEEWWWWW.  How does that happen?

It seems that there was this lady in England who gave birth to twins and placed them up for adoption.  The twins were adopted by separate families.  Years later, the separated twins (not knowing they were twins, duh) met and fell in love.  Creepy.  Then, they got MARRIED.  Yikes!!  Then, they found out that not only were they blood relatives, but they were twin siblings!  More EEEEWWWWW.  Then, they had to go to the court and ask for an annulment, which was obviously granted.

There are just so many unanswered questions and left out details to this story!  But, I completely respect the need for privacy here.

I ask you, how do you recover from that experience?

Wow.  Well, I'll tell you what, it makes me glad for the problems I have.

What I find interesting about this story, besides the freaky weirdness of it, is that this situation is being used as an example of what can "go wrong" when a person does not have enough biological information about themselves.  It seems there is heated debate going on in the British Parliament (and boy they have some entertaining debates!) over the Human Embryology and Tissues Bill.  A debate we, in the United States, should probably pay attention to.

This quote, I presume David Alton, provides some great thinking material for the rest of the day:

"A birth certificate that omits any mention of your true origin falsifies your history in a very significant way."

HHHMMM.  Care to share a thought or two?

Until next time, be well.
